On March 26, 2020, Xinyun Tech's own 100% intellectual property rights of 25G/28G rate silicon optical MZM modulator driver chip successfully passed the DVT test. As the world's first MZM Driver chipset that realizes optical dispersion compensation through electrical control, the driver chip has been continuously improved since the project was established. Currently the reliability test progress is over half, and it is expected to be converted to mass production in the second half of 2020, and applied to the 25G tunable module in the mid-late stage of 5G front-haul construction.
The silicon photonics MZM driver chipset has excellent performance, supporting rates up to 28Gbps, physical bandwidth up to 45GHz, gain up to 36dB, and single-ended output swing up to 6Vpp. It is highly anticipated that chip integrates two-stage drivers, at the same time realizes functions such as adjustable delay between the two-stage drivers, adjustable output swing, adjustable cross point, and adjustable output equalization gain.
The excellent level of this chipset is embodied in the configuration of the driver in the relevant working state, and the flexible realization of optical dispersion compensation within a certain transmission distance in an electrical manner. At the same time, it achieves an extinction ratio of more than 8dB on the silicon optical MZM debugger, and electrical pre-chirp function breaks through the technical bottleneck of C-band transmission dispersion and can meet the transmission requirements of passive DWDM systems for distances of 20 kilometers and above.
The MZM driver chip's C-band full-wave (40ch) tunable transceiver integrated device XY6821 has passed the compatibility test of different operators, equipment manufacturers, and module manufacturers around the world, which can fully meet G.METRO's 5G front-haul requirements, also meet the passive DWDM system requirements of overseas operators, user experience is excellent. As the 5G construction enters the middle and late stages and the cost of tunable devices is reduced, 25G tunable modules will become the mainstream solution, Xingyun Tech's continuous breakthroughs in this field have consolidated its position in the industry and also announced that it is fully prepared for the 5G era.
At the same time, the mass production preparation work of four-channel MZM Driver Chip Array for the silicon photonics process platform is also completed, it is the first electrical driver chip for the silicon photonics platform in the domestic industry. The chip can support a maximum rate of 28Gbps, a bandwidth of more than 20GHz, channel isolation up to 40dB, gain up to 26dB, and differential output swing up to 5Vpp. It has the functions of adjustable output swing, adjustable cross point, and adjustable output equalization gain, which can meet the diverse needs of adapting to different silicon optical platforms. This product has been applied to the 100G silicon photonics QSFP28 CWDM4 solution developed by Xinyun Tech, with significant performance advantages and stable and excellent performance.
